Protective and safety equipment as well as components that facilitate servicing (e.g. non-return valves, safety valves, overflow valves, shut-off valves) must be installed in accordance with national regulations and standards.

Several heat pumps can be interconnected by selecting one ground source heat pump or control unit as the main unit and other heat pumps as subordinate heat pumps. For optimum operation: select a ground source heat pump with an inverter-controlled compressor or a control unit as the main unit. The ground source heat pump is always delivered as the main unit, and up to 8 subordinate heat pumps can be connected to it and supply up to 540 kW (with 9 x F1345-60 kW) in the same system. In systems with multiple heat pumps, each heat pump is given a unique name. External temperature sensors and control signals must be connected solely to the main unit, except for external control of the compressor module, circulation pumps and reversing valve(s) (QN10), of which one can be connected to each ground source heat pump.
In order to ensure the correct brine flow, the brine pumps in the various ground-source heat pumps need to be the same size. Otherwise, install external brine pump (EB10X-GP7) and bypass via non-return valve (RM2). For a pump diagram, see the Installer Manual for the relevant ground-source heat pump.
The external brine pump is connected to the AUX output in the main unit or in one of the subordinate ground-source heat pumps.
When connecting with the air/water heat pump, connect charge pump (AA25-GP12) in AXC 40.
When connecting with the air/water heat pump, connect charge pump (AA35-GP12) in SMO S40.
If hot water heating is required, one or more external water heaters/accumulator tanks are docked.
Hot water production takes place from the compressor(s) set to produce hot water.
If the hot water temperature exceeds 60 °C, the installation must be supplemented with a mixing valve.

With the accessory ACS 45, a separate cooling system can be connected via a reversing valve. ACS 45 allows both heat and cooling production independently of each other.
Passive cooling occurs without the compressor running, active cooling occurs when the compressor is running. The cooling system is connected to the heat pump’s brine circuit.
When cooling is required (activated from the outdoor temperature sensor (EB100-BT1) and room sensor (EB100-BT50), where applicable), the shunt valve (EQ1-QN18) and the circulation pump (EQ1-GP10) are activated.

A 2-pipe, parallel-connected buffer vessel is used for high-temperature and/or low-flow systems. This connection principle requires a continuous flow over the external supply temperature sensor (BT25) and it is used as a buffer for the heat pump (volume expansion) and as a buffer for the climate system (for large, temporary power outputs such as defrosting and fan coil, etc.).
